Inside 3ds max 4, Kim Lee

Inside 3DS MAX 4

by Kim Lee (Editor)
New Riders Publishing

Inside 3ds max 4 focuses on the information needs of intermediate to advanced professional users of the technology. It is NOT a book for beginners. As such, it does not cover basic functionalities. Rather, it explores changes in the program as well as more advanced functionalities and how they can assist the professional user in enhancing efficiency or output. Inside 3ds max 4 is organized into units that mirror and actually step through the workflow of a 3D project. Moreover, where differences exist in the application of techniques between the broadcast/film and game/interactive applications, the authors present careful analysis to assist readers in making the right choices for their technical work.

Mies Van Der Rohe: Crown Hall, Werner Blaser

Mies Van Der Rohe: Crown Hall

by Werner Blaser
Birkhauser Architectural

In 1952-1953 Mies van der Rohe built the Crown Hall in Chicago: it was to house the College of Architecture on Illinois' Institute of Technology campus. A spectacular building constructed out of steel and glass, it has no interior supports and the roof is suspended from four steel girders. In the Hall free-standing partitions subdivide the space, creating drawing rooms, a library and an exhibition room. The basement is used for offices and workshops. In Crown Hall, Mies van der Rohe's continual search for a clear expression of structure reached its pinnacle, and in this book this epochal building is presented in text and illustrations by Werner Blaser, who has worked together with Mies van der Rohe.
